Trezor.io/Start — Getting Started Guide

Trezor.io/Start is the official starting point for new Trezor users. Whether you’ve just purchased your first Trezor device or you’re setting up a replacement, this guide will walk you through everything — from unboxing to securing your wallet — in a safe, beginner-friendly way.

Unboxing and Verification

When you receive your Trezor, carefully inspect the package. Each device comes with a tamper-evident seal. If the seal looks broken or suspicious, do not use the device. Inside, you’ll find your Trezor hardware wallet, a USB cable, recovery seed cards, and basic instructions.

Download and Install Trezor Suite

Go to trezor.io/start and download Trezor Suite, the official app for managing your device. Trezor Suite is available for Windows, macOS, Linux, and can also run in a browser with Trezor Bridge. Only download from the official site to avoid counterfeit apps.

Set Up and Update Firmware

When connecting your device for the first time, you may be prompted to install the latest firmware. Always confirm the update directly on your device screen. Regular updates deliver critical security patches and feature enhancements.

Create and Secure Your Wallet

In Trezor Suite, you’ll be guided to create a new wallet. During this process, your device will generate a unique recovery seed. This is a list of 12, 18, or 24 words that can restore your wallet if your device is lost or damaged.

Important: Write your recovery seed on the provided card and store it in a safe offline place. Never take a photo, store it digitally, or share it online.

Protect with PIN and Passphrase

Set a strong PIN to prevent unauthorized access. For added security, you can also enable a passphrase, which creates hidden wallets within your device. Both settings ensure that even if someone has physical access to your Trezor, they cannot easily access your funds.

Start Transacting

With setup complete, you can now send, receive, and manage your cryptocurrencies through Trezor Suite. Always verify transaction details on the Trezor device screen — addresses, amounts, and confirmations — to protect yourself against phishing or malware.
